FAQ

Why MAPLANTIC?
At MAPLANTIC we are passionate about capturing your memories, stories and achievements in personalised map artworks that add that meaningful touch to your space.
MAPLANTIC is for those looking for something more than just a poster but a piece of artwork that you can treasure for a lifetime. Our maps are printed on museum quality archival paper with pin-sharp resolution, displaying the amazing details of every unique location.
Due to the colourful abstract style of our MAPLANTIC ART range upon first sight they are not immediately identifiable as maps but often require a story to be told, this is what makes MAPLANTIC ART so unique.

What is the difference between MAPLANTIC ART and MAPLANTIC TRAILS?
Both products are beautifully crafted cartography art depicting somewhere in the world that has a special meaning to you.
MAPLANTIC ART maps are amazingly detailed modern maps transformed into colourful abstract art prints. Our company celebrates the joy of travel, personal memories and the uniqueness of every location with handpicked colour themes to choose from. You can find a style that fits perfectly in your space.
MAPLANTIC TRAILS gives you the chance to frame your achievements with a personalised trail map. Whether it’s a run, cycle, hike or walk, each and every trail is worth celebrating.
A MAPLANTIC print will look great on the wall and will also allow you to share your story with those who admire it.

What is the difference between 'Minimal' and 'Fine' versions of your maps?
The main difference between the two options is that 'Minimal' contains less detail. The 'regions' of colour represent plots of land with the 'Fine' version including additional detail such as individual buildings.

Why are some maps only shown in 'Minimal'?
Some maps on our website are only shown in our minimal style as sometimes there is not enough survey information for us to create a fine version (with individual buildings for example). Most of the time there’s still enough detail in the minimal version for the map to look great.

Why are some MAPLANTIC TRAILS maps shown in 'Minimal' and others in 'Fine'?
This is mainly because of scale. For our smaller map size the 'Fine' version would be detailed. If we don't offer it, it's probably for a reason. We want you to be completely satisfied with our products.

How can I customise my MAPLANTIC TRAILS map?
Our Trail / ID and Trail / ID / Metrics options require personalisation. For the Trail / ID option just add your name and Marathon run time in the notes section during checkout. For the Trail / ID / Metrics option please paste a link to your relevant Strava page and we'll do the rest. If you prefer the print as non-personalised you can opt for the None or Trail Name option instead. If you require something a bit more bespoke please use our Request a Map contact page and we will get in contact to discuss.

Which countries do you ship to?
We ship to most countries. If the country is in the drop-down menu on the checkout then we can deliver to it. In most cases delivery is included, however some locations may require additional charges which will be shown on the checkout page.

How long does it take to receive my map print?
Unfortunately, it is difficult to predict how long exactly it will take to create your map. If you order from ‘our collection’ within Europe your map should be with you within 7 days. Outside of Europe it can take longer but usually no more than 14 days. If it is a new city or bespoke item we will get in contact with you and provide an estimated delivery date for your order.

Can I track my order?
Yes, we will send you a link with tracking details with your order. Remember to refresh the tracking link to retrieve information.

How will my prints be packaged?
We treat your map with the respect it deserves and we take great care in ensuring a protected and safe delivery.
We carefully cover it with tissue paper and bubble wrap and place it rolled into a robust cardboard tube, secured and sealed at both ends.
If you would like to find out more about our how sustainable our packaging is, please click here.

What kind of paper are you using for the prints?
We only use the very best materials and have recently moved to a more sustainable paper. Our handpicked art paper by Hahnemühle is made from 90% bamboo fibres and 10% cotton. For more information, please find our paper description here.

Which payment methods are you accepting?
We integrated Stripe as a payment gateway and accept VISA, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express. We also offer Paypal to make the checkout process as easy as possible for you. You can also spread the cost with Klarna.

Which currencies are you accepting?
You can purchase in any country but all of our products are displayed on our website in Pounds Sterling (GBP).

Are the map sizes shown in cm?
Yes, all sizes on our website are shown in cm.

Which sizes do you offer as standard?
For our MAPLANTIC ART maps we offer three different sizes; 50x50cm, 50x70cm and 70x100cm (both 50x70cm and 70x100cm can either portrait or landscape orientation). Our MAPLANTIC TRAILS comes in two different size options; 30x40cm and 40x50cm (these can vary between portrait or landscape orientation dependant upon location) For something more bespoke please get in contact.

Can I have a different size?
Yes, we can also print different sizes than the ones shown on our website. We have chosen these three sizes as they are suitable for standard frames. However, please get in contact if you would like to order a different size and we will advise.

What happens if I make a mistake/wish to cancel my order?
Please get in contact with us as soon as possible on info@maplantic.com. We will do our very best to help. Unfortunately, we cannot cancel an order that has already been printed.

Can I return my order?
As this is a customisable product, unfortunately we do not accept returns when the items are neither faulty nor damaged. Please have a look at our Return Policy to find out more.

My order is damaged. What now?
We are sorry to hear your map is not in the perfect condition. We do our best to prevent this from happening but unfortunately accidents can occur. Please email us on info@maplantic.com and we will discuss the next steps.

What is the Customer Requests Collection?
In the customer request collection you will find maps we have designed as recent map requests from our customers. If you can only see a few colours or sizes this is probably because the customer already had a particular colour in mind and we have only designed and uploaded these. If you are interested in this location but would like to see it in a different colour or size, just get in contact with us.

I would like to work with you on a bespoke project. How can I get in contact?
We are looking forward to hearing from you. Email us at info@maplantic.com.

Do you have any discounts on at the moment?
Yes, we offer a 10% discount on the cheapest map when purchasing two or more maps. The discount will automatically apply during checkout.

How can I redeem my voucher?
If you are lucky enough to have received a voucher you can redeem it at the checkout page. Just add your code to the relevant field.

Do I have to pay customs duties/taxes?
If you are located outside of the EU, please check with your jurisdiction as you are responsible for paying any such duties.

I live in the EU. Will my order be affected by Brexit?
As we are printing in both the UK and in Germany your order will not be affected.

Do the maps include frames?
Unfortunately, we can't ship the map framed. We would love to be able to help but unfortunately with worldwide shipping it is very impractical as it would be very expensive and high risk of damage during shipping.
The good news is our maps come in standard frame sizes, so it is quite easy to find a frame.

Why do you show a frame and mount board on your images?

The frames and mount boards on our website are for visual purposes only, we would like to give you the opportunity to see your map in a frame. All orders will exclude frames and mount boards and these will need to be purchased separately. It is worth noting: Where a mount board (or matting) is illustratively shown our prints extend into this zone to give you the option of framing with or without a mount.

Do you have any recommendations for framing?
Although we do not offer frames we do have some information to share. If you would like us to send you some, please get in contact.

Can I add text to my MAPLANTIC ART map?
Unfortunately we don’t offer this. One of the main intentions behind the design of our maps is the abstract style and the fact that they are not immediately distinguishable as a map and require a story to be told by you.

Can I choose my own colour?
Unfortunately we don't offer custom colour ways. We spent some time developing the colour palettes (almost scientifically) from the percentages of each colour used and whether those colours compliment each other, we even ran multiple test prints to see how each colour printed on our Bamboo paper. We found that without going through that rigorous process we wouldn't be able to guarantee the standard you would expect from a MAPLANTIC print.

What are the Special Edition colours?
From time to time we will announce a special edition colour which is available on all of our MAPLANTIC ART range. If you would like your map in one of these colours, please let us know via the map request page. These can be time limited but if you guys love one of them in particular we may even add it to our standard range.

Will the colours be printed exactly as shown on my monitor/screen?
The accuracy of colours vary from screen to screen and are dependent upon the device it is viewed on, the screen resolution, its calibration and the lighting conditions may all affect the representation of the colours of our maps. We have made every effort to display as accurately as possible.
